KNYSNA NEWS - The Heartbeat FM Pre-Mandela Day Initiative took place at the Rheenendal Community Hall on Monday 17 July.
Hosted by Kim Samuels and Apostle John Laws, the event featured words of encouragement for youth and an open forum discussion on social ills. The programme emphasised youth involvement in creating a sustainable future.
The event featured a dance performance by two local groups, the Fighting Temptations and the Peacemakers, followed by a hot cup of soup and sandwiches sponsored by private companies, government departments and local residents.
The event also served as a sanitary towel drive and provided products to young girls in need.
The initiative drew over 100 people from the local community, and Heartbeat FM is proud of all stakeholders involved in making the day special for everyone.
The initiative was made possible by sponsors and stakeholders such as Rheenendal Councillor Hilton Stroebel, the council of stakeholders, the Department of Social Development (Regional and Local), Western Cape Provincial Government, Community Police Forum, Pentecostal Protestant Church in Keurhoek, Grace Pro Holdings, Revival Fire Ministries, Knysna Rotary Club, The Coating Company, The Fab Company, Checkers Eden Meander and Knysna Police.
