KNYSNA NEWS - Rheenendal's neighbourhood watch (NHW), Buurtwag Rheenendal, last week received seven new bicycles from the Western Cape department of community safety to aid them in their crime-fighting efforts.
Provincial Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz donated the bicycles during a ceremony on Saturday 30 November to Buurtwag Rheenendal.
"We are enhancing the mobility of neighbourhood watch structures to improve safety, while providing greener solutions to transport and encouraging active lifestyles," Fritz said.
"This initiative further constitutes the Western Cape Government's broader rural safety plan, permitting government to prioritise rural communities."
The minister further commended "the exceptional work" that the newly accredited Buurtwag Rheenendal is doing in ensuring safety within its community.
