KNYSNA NEWS - The Epilepsy SA South Cape/Karoo branch reopened its charity shop in its new spot last week after months spent revamping the store for its 10th anniversary.
The shop opened in Knysna in 2012, and has been a key source of income for the Knysna branch ever since.
Since its opening 10 years ago, the shop was located inside Peggrin Place on Long Street that spans the block between Market and Green streets.
The charity shop sells gently used, quality household items as well as second-hand clothing, all of which are donated to the shop.
Profits go towards benefitting the organisation. With the 10th anniversary of its opening on the horizon, the shop moved from inside the centre to its new premises on the outside of the centre in November 2021.
Two months later, in January, it was closed for a week to allow for a 10th birthday revamp of the new store.
This was done with help from many kind benefactors and even from Epilepsy SA South Cape/Karoo's very own carpentry workshop, which built the store's new shelving.
Epilepsy SA South Cape/Karoo branch director Lee-Ann van den Bergh unties the ribbon to commemorate the reopening of the shop.
"We'd like to extend a huge thank you to Dave's Electrical, FJ Carpentry, Food Lover's Market, SuperSpar Knysna and Liz Beard for all the help and sponsorship of the revamp of our Epilepsy charity shop," said Epilepsy SA South Cape/Karoo marketer Ashleigh Smith.
The shop is open on weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00, and two Saturdays every month.
These Saturdays will be advertised on the Epilepsy SA South Cape/Karoo Facebook page. Smith also extended an invite to anyone looking to volunteer at the shop. Contact marketing.sck@epilepsy.org.za to get involved.
