On Monday Universal Music released a brand new Elvis Blue single. The track called Lighthouse promises to be another smash hit.
The new single went to radio just a week after the album, Elvis Blue, reached gold status with the announcement that 20 000 copies flew off the shelves in less than a month.
But, in his usual humble manner, Elvis Blue credits his fans for his success. "To think that people actually used their hard earned cash to buy my album?! It is a great honour to know that someone somewhere may be listening to my music right now."
Elvis and his family have just returned from a short break in Storms River and the Addo National Park.
He says the break did him the world of good and that he is putting all his energy into promoting his album. "I am raring to go and have shows booked country wide for the next month."
To reach platinum status the album must double its current sales.
Elvis has extended a special thanks to his fans in George. "I’m sure if they could isolate the sales geographically, we would see a huge chunk of the albums were sold in George. Thank you for the fantastic support."
The family will return to their home in George whenever they can, but due to their hectic schedule, they are also renting a cottage in Johannesburg. "I signed the lease on Monday. Importantly, it is a secure location for my wife and our daughter to stay when I’m travelling solo."
Universal Music is planning a bash to celebrate the album’s gold status and will hand Elvis Blue a gold copy of the CD.
"Wow, I have always wanted one of those. It will be one of my most prized possessions."''
Asked about his future and a possible international career, Elvis says it’s early days. "First I want to make it really big in South Africa and then I will look at the possibilities overseas. A cyclist friend of mine always says any avid cyclist that claims he doesn’t dream of winning the Tour de France is a liar. The same goes for a musician. Every dedicated musician craves international recognition."
So, be warned, if the opportunity to see Elvis Blue perform live crops up, buy a ticket. You may soon have to book an international flight to see his show.
