PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Continued efforts by police to protect communities against serious and violent crimes bore fruit across the Garden Route, including Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg Bay last week.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies said on Friday 10 June, the Eden Cluster Crime Combatting Team, Kwanokuthula Crime Prevention Unit and Knysna Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) members conducted various operations in Kwanokuthula and Knysna respectively.
The team arrested 14 suspects on charges of possession of dangerous weapons, possession of drugs as well as one for the selling of liquor without a licence. "Police confiscated small quantities of drugs, various brands of liquor and sharp objects," Spies said.
This was part of operations conducted across the Garden Route over the weekend focusing on crime-ridden areas.
Further afield, the Pacaltsdorp CPU members embarked on targeted operations on Saturday
11 June and arrested 10 suspects, aged between 26 and 47, for being in possession of dangerous weapons. "The vigilance of the members led to the confiscation of an assortment of knives and pangas," Spies said.
All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in various courts once charged.
