KNYSNA NEWS - A total of 11 businesses came together for their annual charity potjiekos cook-out held in the picnic area adjacent to Nautical South in Brenton-on Sea.
The competition, which is always a friendly social affair, was held on Saturday 17 December last year.
For the participants, businessowners from across the country who come to Knysna each year for holiday, it's tradition to come together for a friendly potjiekos competition with the aim of raising money for a charity.
For the 2022 edition of the cook-out they elected the Knysna/Sedgefield Hospice as the recipient of their donation. The businesses that took part were Algoa Nissan, Bosman Heaters, Build It, Dynamic Automation, Echo Cold Rooms, Neuro Livestock Research, Pin Research, SKOV A/S Denmark, Sovereign Foods, Spotless Classic Car Services and MM Bouwer Electrical.
While the vibe is friendly and social, competition is fierce and every participating team put their best cooking minds together to conjure up a mouth-watering potjie. It was Echo Cold Rooms who were victorious, taking top spot ahead of Algoa Nissan and Sovereign Foods.
Not only were the potjies a huge success, but the fundraising too. A total of R60 000 was raised and later donated to the Knysna/Sedgefield Hospice.
A horde of people took part in the competition, representing various businesses.
