KNYSNA NEWS - The Uniting Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa Garden Route Congregation held its opening at Nzimeni street, Joodse Kamp on Saturday 22 April.
This came from a long history of the ministry's history in Knysna that begun around 1959 by Nzimeni Rimpie Vazi. The church was built in 2009 by the late Reverend Lulamile Patrick Obose of the Presbytery for Pastoral Care of Garden Route Congregation.
The church was "christened" with a moving performance by cluster choirs from different congregations. The theme of the sermon and throughout the day was bringing renewal to a community in time of need.
A church plaque was donated by the congregation.
Approximately 200 people were present on the day, including religious leaders from across the country, as well as Knysna Mayor Ndoda Aubrey Tsengwa, who commemorated the significance of the work the church has done in its community.
The church is at the heart of the Joodse Kamp community and is a place where the community feels safe in times of need.
