PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Police have opened a culpable homicide docket after two bikers died in a crash on the N2 just outside Plettenberg Bay on Friday 23 April.
Southern Cape police spokesman Sergeant Chris Spies said the incident happened near the Keurbooms turn-off at about 15:15. "It is alleged that a motorcycle and a Toyota Avanza were travelling towards the Crags when they collided," Spies said.
He said the biker and his passenger, both from Worcester, sustained serious injuries and were declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
"The cause of the accident is yet to be determined. The investigation continues."
In another accident on Sunday 25 April, a 49-year-old pedestrian was killed when he was knocked over by a vehicle near Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg Bay. Spies said the incident happened at about 18:30.
"The preliminary investigation indicates that the man was hit by a motor vehicle. He sustained serious injuries and was declared dead on scene by medical personnel. Two occupants of the vehicle also sustained serious injuries. They were transported to hospital."
Spies said a case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
