KNYSNA NEWS - Voting started at a slow pace on Wednesday morning in White Location, Knysna, and at the Knysna Town Hall.
Party officials at the voting station at Chris Nissen Primary School and the station at the Methodist Church, both in ward four, said many voters had not voted in the morning as they had to go to work, and they expected long voting queues at the stations late in the afternoon.
"When they start getting back from work, then it will be busier," said an official outside the primary school.
At the town hall, voters trickled into the station in twos and threes, and an official there also predicted a busy afternoon.
NoThemba Alicia Mbovu (79), a pensioner who lives in ward four, Knysna, voted at the Chris Nissen Primary School voting station: 'I hope this year everything will change (after the election). Before there was no change; our homes are still leaking in ward four. More homes must be built and I want more jobs, because the young people don't have jobs.'
Malungisa Attwell (70) lives in ward four, Knysna, and voted at the Chris Nissen Primary School voting station: 'I want jobs, water, and a pension increase.'
Thando Bulu (38), who is unemployed and lives in ward four, Knysna, voted at the Methodist Church voting station: 'I just need change, because some of the youngsters are not working - we need jobs. Some roads in the area need to be tarred. I want everyone to be free - no fighting. I can do anything with my hands, and I'm seeking employment.'
