KNYSNA | PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - As the vaccination drive enters its third week of administering vaccines to children between the ages of 12 and 17, the province has already seen over 50 000 registrations in this age group.
The national Department of Health began administering vaccines to this age group on Wednesday 20 October, and children in the age group and their parents have been making good use of the opportunity.
As at Monday 8 November the Western Cape has seen 53 096 registrations in the 12 to 17-year-old age group. The province's total now stands on 2 494 648 vaccine registrations, 44,45% of the eligible population.
In the Garden Route there have been 3 477 registrations in the youngest age group, and a total of 223 185 registrations as at Monday. This represents 45,08% of the eligible population.
Knysna has seen 537 registrations among adolescents and a total of 31 930 registrations overall. This is 55,62% of the eligible population. Meanwhile in Bitou, 206 children between 12 and 17 have registered, with a total of 18 941 registrations in the sub-district. This is 44,57% of the eligible population.
