KNYSNA | BITOU NEWS - The inter-wave Covid-19 statistics in Knysna and Bitou continue to remain low and stable, with ever so slight decreases from last week.
The total number of registrations in the Western Cape stands on 2 453 607 (43,72% of the eligible population), as at Tuesday 2 November.
In the Garden Route district, a total of 219 774 individuals have registered. This represents 44,39% of the eligible population.
Knysna meanwhile has seen a total of 31 483 registrations (54,84% of the eligible population). In Bitou there has been a total of 18 679 registrations (43,96% of the eligible population).
As at Tuesday 2 November, Knysna had recorded a total of 8 086 cases of Covid-19, of which 7 803 have recovered, 256 have died, and 27 are active cases. This indicates a total of 17 new cases between 26 October and 2 November, which amounts to a 10,53% decrease (-2) from the previous week.
The active cases rose by 15,63% (-5) this week. The recovery rate has increased ever so slightly to 96,50% (96,44% last week), the highest number since 30 September 2020, while the mortality rate stays on 3,2%.
In Bitou as at Tuesday, 4 352 Covid-19 cases had been recorded, with 4 204 having recovered, 137 having died, and nine being active cases.
This shows a total of five new cases recorded between 26 October and 2 November, dropping by 16,67% (-1) from last week.
The active cases dropped by 45% (-9) this week, the lowest number since 14 April. Bitou's recovery rate is now 96,60% (96,43% last week), its highest percentage since the sub-district was on 100% recovery rate on 29 May 2020, and the mortality rate remains on 3,1%.
