Cyril Herr, club manager of Knysna Bowling Club and tournament convener, says that this social event has become such a highlight on their calendar that it has been organised twice a year for the past six years. "It's a big social event and everyone absolutely loves it!" he smiles.
"Not only does it promote and introduce bowling as a sport to the business community, but it is an excellent networking opportunity outside the office, in a relaxing and fun atmosphere that brings Knysna businesses together." Teams use their company names or come up with zesty titles as they take to the bowling lawns in all earnest each Friday evening.
Due to so many participating teams from the SAPS, National Sea Rescue Institute, banks, real estate agents, restaurants and everyone in-between, the tournament had to be divided into two sections. The winners of the First Section were, in first place Seafood Safari (40 points), second Standard Bank (39) and third FUPS of Leisure Industries (39). In Section Two Custom Blinds (39) came first, followed by Scottish Leaders of Knysna Municipality in second place (36) and Shaun Marais' Green Horns (33) in third position.
The Nick Ocker floating trophy was shared by both winning teams and handed over to the triumphant players of Seafood Safari and Custom Blinds. Mandy Niemand of Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty, Knysna says they were delighted to sponsor the Business Bowling Tournament as it is important for the businesses in Knysna to stand together and support local events and each other. She also thanked Herr for his role in organising this event and for allowing Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty, Knysna to be part of this event.
