KNYSNA NEWS - When Fayaaz Nagdee saw a "small opportunity" to launch a business and to be a benefit in the Knysna community, he grabbed it with both hands.
In 2008, Nagdee, the owner of aMaZeN Broadway, decided to relocate to Knysna with his wife, kids and parents to get away from the crime and hustle in Johannesburg.
At the time he was working as a sales representative for Amazen Trading and visited most parts of South Africa. It was Knysna that attracted him most.
"It was a one of the best decisions I made to move here to Knysna," says Nagdee, whose business, aMaZeN Broadway, reflects the name of his older brother and mentor, Mohamed Zahier Nagdee.
Nagdee's business journey took him from a small general trader to haircare cosmetics, homeware DIY hardware store, and a supermarket, to his new premises in Gray Street, where he now operates a Halaal takeaway that is next to his expanded hardware and general dealer store.
He has transformed the business from selling cosmetics and kitchenware to include home improvements. Starting with one employee, Nagdee now employs 15 people.
"My business philosophy is to provide quality products at affordable prices to the consumer. I strive for all to benefit in the supply chain," says Nagdee.
aMaZeN Broadway benefits the Knysna community by creating employment, adding skills development, economic growth, the betterment of the lower and middle income people and embracing the diversity of the community.
"We work hard to do the best we can and we put our trust in The Almighty, The Provider: it is unto Him that we owe all praises and thanks," adds Nagdee.
