The word "rapid" is not often used to describe the game of chess, but this past weekend it was quite fitting when more than 60 players from around the country took part in the Oyster Rapid Chess Tournament at the Knysna Primary School clubhouse on Saturday 7 July. What's more, a player from Knysna, Rauen le Grange, placed second overall out of 63 players – including some national players who came from as far as Port Elizabeth, Albertina, Cape Town and Riversdale to take part in the Chess SA-registered tournament organised by Sedgefield chess aficionado Terry Quirk.
