SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - The orchestral performance - 'Scotland Live!' by the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra is being hosted by the The George Music Society.
"All the way from South West Scotland on Sunday 5 July at Eden Gemeente Auditorium at 15:30," say the organisers.
The Orchestra embarks in July 2015 on a tour of South Africa, bringing Scottish music to the tip of Africa.
They are starting their tour as guests of the Grahamstown International Festival on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 July. They will then travel down the Garden Route on their way to Cape Town and give a performance for the George Music Society on Sunday 5 July.
The Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra was founded in August 1982 by Wallace and Lex Galbraith, both music tutors in Ayrshire in South West Scotland with the aim of encouraging and developing Scottish fiddle music among young musicians between the ages of 10 and 18 years.
The orchestra normally participates in two major concerts each year in Ayrshire namely over Christmas and again during Midsummer as well as in charity concerts throughout the West of Scotland providing a wide range of musical entertainment.
In Cape Town they will perform with the Cape Town Youth Orchestra.
It is very rare for the George community to have the opportunity to experience such a big orchestra consisting of more than eighty members and the George Music Society is hoping to fill the auditorium to the brim with lovers of orchestral music!
