GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - With tonight being the last chance for Plettonians to enjoy a blast-from-the-past drive-in experience as part of the Garden Route International Film Festival (GRIFF) programme for Plett, the GRIFF teams are gearing up for two nights of drive-in theatre at Knysna Primary School starting tomorrow.
The GRIFF drive-ins have so far entertained residents of Calitzdorp, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, George and most, recently Plettenberg Bay.
The first Plett screening took place yesterday, and was well received.
If you live in Plett and have a heavy case of nostalgia and are yearning to return to the good old days of cinematic viewing, then tonight is your last chance to get in on the action.
Taking place at the Plett Rugby Club, gates will open at 18:30 and close at 19:15 for the movies to start at 19:30. On show tonight will be Poppie Nongena and Losing Lerato, two proudly South African films.
It costs R180 for a four-seater car and R220 for a car seating five or more people, with children under 14 entering for free. Tickets permit you to watch both movies.
From Plett, the crews will make their way to Knysna Primary School for two days of drive-ins. Gate and movie times as well as ticket prices are the same as in Plett.
On Friday 9 October there will screenings of Khumba and Kampterrein, and tickets permit you to watch both movies.
Saturday 10 October will feature the worldwide premiere of the film Mr Johnson, and will also see GRIFF join hands with the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras Festival to present a screening of the award-winning South African film, Kanarie. Once again, tickets include both movies.
Tickets can be purchased online at Webtickets, or at the gates on the night.
Mr Johnson and Kanarie will be featuring at Knysna Primary School on Saturday 10 October.
