KNYSNA ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - DJ Thandile "Tee Maestro" Nkosi, an artist and producer of deep house music, is working on his debut album.
He started producing music in 2008 after a friend introduced him to the digital audio workbench called Fruity Loops in high school.
"I used to DJ and create my own music. Since 2014, I have released eight EPs on various record labels in South Africa and a whole lot of compilations," says Nkosi, who is currently working on a number of remixes with international input and some huge South Africa's musicians.
"Last year during lockdown I worked on some music that attracted the attention of established artists such as Jazzuelle from South Africa, Lars Behrenroth from Germany, Vinny Da Vinci and 2lani The Warrior, whose label called DeepStitched Records I am now signed to," he says.
In his collection of unreleased music, he has two vocal songs that he produced and are sung by his long-time friend Samphiwa Nzimela, now resident in America.
"Those two songs are currently my favourites and some of my best work to date," he says.
Despite all this, Nkosi describes himself as a work in progress.
"Humility and being open-minded to different backgrounds and cultural influences have really helped build some of the most awesome individuals in the music industry. As young artists we need to be hungry to learn as much as possible about our genres and other fields of entertainment," he explains.
In his spare time, Nkosi loves watching movies, reading books and everything that has to do with arts and culture.
