OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Six big open-air music concerts are presented at this year's KKNK to celebrate post-pandemic freedom in style. To kick things off the programme will run amok, while the festival ends with a very special concert on Easter Sunday, compiled by Nataniël.
As part of the ever-popular open-air music programme, festivalgoers can look forward to music by some of the country's favourite artists. Audiences can prepare for open-air sounds of rock, pop, classical music, rap, jazz and everything in between.
The 27th KKNK, sponsored by Absa, takes place in Oudtshoorn from 1 to 9 April and kicks off with a two-day music festival, Amok!, on Saturday and Sunday, 1 and 2 April.
Festivalgoers can get comfortable from early afternoon for a nice vibe that will continue until sunset under the Klein Karoo stars. In addition to the top-quality music by various artists and bands, the bars, social atmosphere and a few surprises will complement the offering.
Time to run amok
On stage for Amok! 1.0, supported by kykNET, on Saturday 1 April, are Prime Circle, Refentse, Sunset Sweatshop, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Jo Black, Francois van Coke and many more.

Snap, crackle, pops!
Karoo Pops, supported by kykNET and Netwerk24, is a longstanding tradition on the open-air stage at the KKNK and on Saturday 8 April the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Karen Zoid, Francois van Coke, Lynelle Kenned and Luvo Maranti will perform a range of classical music, rock and other genres, together with music from musicals. It is here that Zoid and Van Coke's hit Toe vind ek jou will be performed with a symphonic orchestra for the first time.

Rounding it all off
The open-air music programme concludes on Easter Sunday, 9 April, with Passi | Passio | Pasión | Passion, supported by kykNET and Die Burger. It is an epic concert by Nataniël, inspired by his love for ceremony and rituals, the timeless melodies from Bach to blues, the rhythms of cathedrals, world music and the symbolism of religion in clothing.
Seven of South Africa's most renowned musicians, Charl du Plessis, Juan Oosthuizen, Werner Spies, Peter Auret, Dihan Slabbert, Nicolaas Swart and Wiehahn Francke, join him on stage for a spectacular evening.
These evening concerts are presented in a picnic styled atmosphere. Festivalgoers are welcome to bring their own chairs. Tickets for evening concerts include access to the festival terrain for the day, where the stalls, the very first KKNK Feeswinkel, funfair, Liplekker's deli and wine stalls, various bars and food stalls can be visited throughout the day.
