Baranov was born in Leningrad in 1986 into a family of musicians. He graduated in 2004 from the Special Music School at the Conservatoire named after Rimsky-Korsakov. He has won many top awards in Volgograd, London, Moscow and in Germany. Since 2008 he has been assistant to Professor Pierre Amoyal in the Conservatory in Lausanne. He plays on a violin by Andrea Guarneri (1682).
Baranova has been playing in ensemble with her brother, Andrey since she was ten. She has performed all over Europe both solo and with different ensembles. In 2008 she took part in the Academy of Music in Lauzanne, this time with a different violinist, they won the prize for the best duet.
They will be performing at Dutch Reformed Church Hall, Fitchat Street, starting 19:30. Tickets cost R100 for adults and R20 for scholars.
