PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A love for whales has brought together two talented Plettenberg Bay artists, a photographer and a sculptor, to celebrate the ocean in a joint exhibition.
Rob Smith and Robbie Rorich will display their artistic creations at a combined exhibition called the Furnace and Lens.
"We will celebrate Plettenberg Bay as a Whale Heritage Site," says Smith, who was instrumental in having Plett recognised as a Whale Heritage Site by the World Cetacean Alliance.
Both Rorich and Smith have an attachment to Plett, the ocean and its coast. "Robbie's family has always had a home here and I have lived here for 15 years," says Smith.
"We both feel strongly about and support Plett being accredited as a Whale Heritage Site.
"As artists, we wanted to showcase our affection for Plett's beauty, its marine life and coastline. We want to play our part in showing what the town has to offer and to celebrate the ocean through the arts."

Smith, a retired foreign-service-official-turned-photographer, says of Rorich, "Art critics are punting Robbie as the next Dylan Lewis of sculpture in SA."
The exhibition will be at Robbie family's beach house at 403 The Waves, Keurboomstrand on 18 and 19 December.
A percentage of all sales will go towards the registered NPO called Plett Whale Heritage Area. "Please bring family and friends who may be in town," says Smith.
