KNYSNA SPORT NEWS - Local and international skiers took part in the annual waterskiing competition at Portland Manor off the Rheenendal Road that typically marks the start of the South African season.
The field on 11 and 12 January featured skiers from four different countries, with the majority hailing from South Africa.
There would be four rounds of slalom skiing and one round of trick skiing during the weekend. The final two rounds of slalom came on the last of the two days – Sunday 12 January – with Yves Saintviteux emerging as the top skier of the weekend having achieved three buoys at a rope length of 12m.
Jan Johnson was second thanks to her first round score, while Brett Nieuwstadt was third thanks to his second round score of 2 buoys at a rope length of 12m which he matched in the third round.
