SA couple breaks world record in rowing

NATIONAL NEWS - South African adventure couple Riaan and Vasti Manser have broken a world record in rowing.

The newlyweds’ rowing trip from California to Hawaii came to an end last night after spending 39 days on the Pacific Ocean.

The record was previously held by a team of four men.

Speaking for the couple, Karen Jurgens says the trip was not all smooth sailing.

Their small boat capsized leaving Riaan with a head injury during the first week.

But Jurgens says they powered on.
