The format for the day was not club against club, but rather a handicap format, in which each doubles pairing consisted of a player from each club. Selection was done with strongest player paired with weakest, to ensure a balanced competition.
The same pair played all day, and points were scored per game won. At the end of the pool section, there were four pairs who played in the semi-finals, with the finals being contested between Jill Warne and Knud Jacobson and Alice Vorster and Cliff Elion. The eventual victors were Vorster and Elion.
The weather was fantastic and the format proved to be a lot of fun with the members getting the opportunity of getting to know one another.
The day ended with prize-giving and the customary braai at the Sedge Club.

The organisers and winners pictured at the prize-giving are from left: Carol Elion (chairperson), Alice Vorster & Cliff Elion (winners), Jill Warne & Knud Jacobsen (runners-up) and Roger Vande Wiele (tournament organiser).
