Protest action at Varsity Cup

NATIONAL NEWS - The FNB Varsity Cup match between the NMMU Madibaz and hosts UFS Shimlas at Shimla Park in Bloemfontein, was disrupted on Monday night due to a protest action.

Play was stopped 17 minutes into the first half, when protesters invaded the field of play, at which stage the Shimlas were leading 12-7.

The match resumed approximately an hour after the police and university security settled the situation and both teams agreed to continue with the match.
