SEDGEFIELD NEWS - It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for the Pic n Pay Sedgefield Eagle Stars as their A and B sides faced Albertinia Rangers in closely contested matches in a home game at the past weekend.

The Eagle Stars A-team continued their impressive form with a commanding 34-18 bonus-point victory over Albertinia Rangers.

The home side delivered a well-rounded performance, combining forward dominance with clinical finishing to secure the win.

The Eagles’ pack set the tone, asserting themselves physically and controlling large portions of the game. Try scorers included Curt Ruiters (hooker), Jayron Jantjies (lock), Dehan Maritz (8th man), and Adriaan Konstable (fullback).

Konstable was also flawless off the tee, converting all four tries and adding two penalty kicks to maintain his 100% kicking record.

This bonus-point win ensures Eagle Stars A-team maintain their unbeaten start to the season, building strong momentum as the campaign progresses.

“Our forwards set the tone, and the backs executed when it mattered. We’re building well as a team and are looking forward to the challenges ahead,” commented coach Sheveque Terblanche.

In contrast, the Eagle Stars B-team suffered a narrow 14-13 home defeat, marking their first loss of the 2026 season.

Despite the result, the side showed plenty of encouragement and attacking promise throughout the match.

Tries for Eagle Stars B-team came from Mzoleli Am (left wing) and Jason Godfrey (fullback), while Junaid Ruiters (fly-half) contributed with a successful penalty kick. The one-point margin reflected how evenly matched the teams were on the day.

In another clash Knysna United (23-30) fell short against Uniondale United.
