PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Some young musicians delivered a strong showing at the recent South Cape Arts Festival, achieving excellent results across a range of piano and instrumental categories.
The learners competed under the guidance of Marie Skeen of The Old Oak Music School.
In the solo piano category, Emma van der Mescht received an A+ (88%), while Daniël Brauer, Emuel Brauer and Eben Oberholzer each achieved A++ results, with scores of 92%, 90% and 92% respectively. Mila Brauer achieved the highest mark in the category with an A+++ (95%).
The duet category also produced impressive results. Luc and Joe le Roux, performing piano and guitar, received an A+ (88%), while Eben and former learner Anjene Oberholzer achieved an A++ (93%) for their piano and flute duet.
In the piano trio, Mila, Emuel and Daniël Brauer received an A+ (87%).
The musicians also performed as part of the Top Tones instrumental ensemble, comprising Mila, Emuel and Daniël, Joderick Joubert, Luc, Eben, Emma and Anjene. The ensemble achieved an A++ (94%).
