Although rainy conditions resulted in the scheduled time-trials being postponed, the half-hill novice event proceeded as planned, with Keegan Reid taking first place. The fun events, the poker run and slide jam also took place on the Saturday.
Sunny skies and a tail wind on Sunday ensured that riders reached speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour, much to the delight of the spectators. Jason Brown came first in the Nixon Top 8 Time Trials in 47.94 seconds and went on to win the open finals' R10 000 cash prize, sponsored by Sector 9. Murray Chandler and Richard Dweza took second and third place respectively.
The Junior 1 final heats saw Tyron Coetzee in first with Tim Bowman taking the Junior 2 crown.
Event organiser, Daron Smit of Nature Sport Company said, "We're stoked with the outcome of the event and how well received it was by the people of Plett. A big thanks to all the locals who came out to watch and support and a special thank you to the Plett Traffic Department, Plett Nippers, all our sponsors and the rest of the team – we couldn't have done it without you. We look forward to the Plett Downhill Rage becoming a firm fixture on the annual Plett events calendar." Smit said that even bigger and better things can be expected next year."
