The members of the four teams that represented the Southern Cape did the province proud by bringing home several other trophies as well, the most prestigious of these being the Monty Shotland trophy for the Best Province competing at the 2012 Masters Tournament.
It is a first for a smaller province to take highest honours by winning this coveted award, as it is normally awarded to one of the bigger provinces such as Gauteng or Western Cape. This follows Southern Cape's 2011 success when they won the Roy Kirby Shield for the best small province.
Southern Cape also won the Ladies 40+ section and the Men's 40+ and 50+ sections.
It is for the second year running that Southern Cape teams have triumphed in the Ladies 40+ and Men's 50+ sections.
