The learners competed in rugby, netball and soccer.
"The day was a huge success and all the children had fun," said Basil Manuel, organiser of the event.
The participating schools were Chris Nissen Primary School, Hornlee Primary School, Sunridge Primary School, Knysna Secondary School, Formosa Primary School, The Craggs Primary School, Phakamisani Primary School, Murray High School and Wittedrift High School.
The Knysna Municipality contributed towards this event, sponsoring the trophies and medals, while food was provided by Pick n Pay.
Phakamisani’s u/13 team walked away as the victors winners in the soccer tournament, winning gold medal as well as the Knysna Municipality Cup. Silver medalist in the soccer tournament was Chris Nissen Primary School, while the Craggs Primary School took the bronze.
Learners of Phakamisani made their school proud as its netball team won its match, winning gold medals and the Knysna Municipality Cup, while the Craggs Primary School took silver and Chris Nissen Primary Scool the bronze medal.
In rugby, the Craggs Primary School was just too good for Hornlee Primary. The team took the Knysna Municipality cup and gold medal home while Hornlee Primary School had to be satisfied with the silver medal. Chris Nissen received the bronze medal after an exciting semi-final against Hornlee Primary.
In boys u/16 rugby, Knysna Secondary School had to beat Wittedrift High School twice to take the Knysna Municipality Cup and gold. In the final, Knysna Secondary School’s boys, with captain Cohen Rhode leading, were just too strong. Players who stood out were Chad-Leigh Phillip, Gurshwin Pedro, Lodien Solomons and Hilmer Plaatjies. Knysna Secondary School won the game 24 - 0. Wittedrift received silver and Hornlee Primary, which lost to Wittedrift in the semi-final, received bronze.

Next year’s sports day will be held in Plettenberg Bay.
