KNYSNA BODYBUILDING NEWS - Two homegrown bodybuilders have secured their place at an upcoming national bodybuilding competition, thanks to stellar performances at the provincial competition in Port Elizabeth on 24 August.

Elmarie Kolver, founder and owner of Sweat with EllaK, has been bodybuilding for years, but took a break a few years ago, finally deciding to return to the bodybuilding scene this year when she took part in the Xtreme SA as part of the Over 35s and Over 1.68m divisions, which she managed to win.

This saw her qualify for the overall bikini competition, which she in turn won too, subsequently earning herself an invite to next year's Arnold Classic Africa competition in Joburg in May.

Kolver's drive has had such an impact on the women she trains at her studio that one of them, Danielle Jansen, decided this year to get on stage and strut her stuff.

Jansen started training with Elmarie a year ago, and also took part in the SA Xtreme competition on 15 June, but unfortunately did not place.

She kept training hard in the two months that followed however, so that she could take part in the Eastern Cape provincial competition with Kolver.

The two then took part in the International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Eastern Province provincial competition, with Kolver participating in and winning the Over 35s Fitness Bikini division while Jansen participated in and won the Under 23s Beach Bikini division. They were well prepared for the provincial competition however, thanks to having taken part in the Xtreme SA competition in Johannesburg two months prior.

Their performances at provincials means they now qualify for nationals, but this great opportunity comes at a costly rate.

They have started a raffle with a heap of prizes to help get them to Johannesburg, as they need help with accommo-dation, travel, registration and preparations for their shows.
