PLETTENBERG BAY NEWSFLASH - Plettenberg Bay is now home to two national gymnastics champions following the South African National Championships in Pretoria last week.
Leolin Petersen (11) and Carmen Swiegers (16) – who competed in a series of events from October 3 to 9, 2017 – are back on home soil with medals to spare.
Leolin proved her mettle on the gymnastics floor and managed to secure a gold medal in the Euro trampoline and the double mini trampoline disciplines.
To top the success off, the youngster was also selected to represent South Africa in the International Region 5 competition to be hosted in Namibia in December this year.
Carmen also dominated the competition and came home with three medals in her age division. She managed to secure a gold medal in the Euro trampoline, a silver in the double mini trampoline and a bronze in tumbling.
