GARDEN ROUTE SPORT NEWS - Two groups of karateka from Knysna and Plettenberg Bay have shone beyond the boundaries of their towns and dojos, with the groups excelling on the provincial stage.
The young athletes, who are members of the SA JKA Karate Knysna-Plett dojos, took part in the SA JKA Western Province Championships in Cape Town on 29 February.
Between the two dojos, 25 karateka competed, with 23 qualifying for the Western Cape team set to take part in the national championship. They also managed to earn an astounding 35 medals between them.
Their sensei, John Peach (5th dan), was overjoyed with the results: "I am very pleased with and proud of the local students' performance and dedicated squad-training attendance that resulted in this excellent achievement," he said.
