PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Kwanokuthula residents may soon see something being done about the deteriorating roads, as Bitou Municipality announced that the repairs to the affected streets are expected to begin on or near 21 September.

The announcement follows months of deterioration to several roads and streets in Kwanokuthula after the severe storms that hit the region in May.

The road conditions, particularly along the main entrance and exit routes to the township, were further affected when the N2 was temporarily closed after a dam had overflowed and blocked the underground pipes. 

The closure resulted in traffic being diverted through Kwanokuthula, Heavy vehicles used the local streets while the roadworks and installation of underground infrastructure were under way.

Bitou Municipality has now confirmed that the preparations for the Kwanokuthula street repair project later this month have been completed with the appointed contractor, but are subject to some final arrangements.

The municipality said it appreciated the residents’ patience and co-operation while the arrangements were being finalised, and that further updates would be communicated as the project progresses.
