Six local members competed on Saturday, October 4 in the championships where disabled as well as the able-bodied bodybuilders competed in different categories. Faried Christians (u/21) was the winner in his category in the able-bodied competition, which means he will travel to Italy to compete in the International Natural Bodybuilding Championships.
In the disabled competition, Christo Minana won a second place in the special category, while Siakhanyisa Mboniswa came third in the u/15 able-bodied category. Sazi Solwandle came fourth in the able-bodied middle-weight category.
The six Knysna members of the Garden Route Body Building Association were sponsored by the Knysna Rotary Club and the Knysna Municipality to take part in the championship.
Christians must now come up with approximately R16 000 to compete in the world championship. If individuals or businesses want to help by sponsoring him, he can be contacted on 061 204 7944.
