KNYSNA NEWS - During the July school holidays, two of Knysna Primary School’s riders participated in the Western Cape Youth Festival. Riders from the Cape Metropole, Cape Winelands, West Coast, Eastern Cape and Eden districts participated in the four days of racing in different cycling disciplines: road racing, team time trial, criterium, cross-country MTB and track racing.
During the festival, KPS learner Morgan Jones earned three gold medals, one silver and two bronze, and fellow KPS learner Hannie Vreken earned two gold and three bronze medals.
After the Youth Festival, the Western Cape Cycling Association selected the province's cycling team for 2018, and both Morgan and Hannie were included in the team, to participate in the Timbercity Road Race held in Oudtshoorn on 30 September. At this race, Morgan won the U13 boys' race and Hannie won the U11 girls' race.
