KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Elephants are raring and ready to go ahead of this weekend's PSi InterCity Tournament in Cape Town, which will be the franchise's second national competition since joining Pro Series Indoor (PSi) last year.
Knysna Elephants first took part in a national competition in December 2021, when their U13B boys team travelled to Cape Town for the PSi Coastal Nationals.
The team consisted of seven boys plus their female goalkeeper, Anja Barnard, who walked away with the goalkeeper of the U13B boys tournament trophy.
The team was met by fierce competition but stood their ground, even though it was their first participation at such an indoor event. Team manager Hélène Reyneke expressed her gratitude to those who made the tour possible.
"A huge thank you to our sponsors Be Honey, Princess Hockey, PSi, Re/Max Lakes, Ilse Pretorius Attorneys, and Grant's Sports. Without you the tour would not have been possible. No price tag can be placed on what was learned and experienced," she said.
PSi and Knysna Elephants would like to make participation at this bi-annual event a reality, as the local franchise continues to grow and spread its wings in its second year under PSi. Knysna Elephants have been hard at work since December.
From the start of February they have been training at Knysna Primary Astro every Friday in preparation for the 2022 PSi Western Cape Intercity tournament, where they will be competing this Sunday, 13 March.
Charl-Jarrod Mills joins the team this weekend.
