KARATE NEWS - Tylor Muller (7), a member of the Goju Kai Karate Association in George, will be making his mark at the 2023 European Championships in Italy in August 2023.
At his tender age, this Grade 1 learner at Hibernia Primary School is a promising karate kid with a green belt to his name.
Tylor is one of a selected few who qualified for the national team to not only compete in the European championships, but also in the follow-up Karate-Do Goju Kai World Championships in Tokyo, Japan in 2025.
According to Tylor's mother, Porcha Roman, they learned this great news after he participated in the Chiisai Nippon Seminar in Cape Town earlier this year. "This was a wow moment for us as his parents. We shed a tear when we received word of the good news. We are super proud of him."
Tylor's sensei for the past three years, Samantha Williams, says that Tylor is a dedicated and enthusiastic child. "He has this amazing character of always giving his best and I know he has a bright future ahead of him."
Like most seven-year-olds, Tylor could not put words to how he feels, other than expressing his sincere excitement.
Benefit gospel concert
As members of the community, you can help keep Tylor's excitement alive and make this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity come true by supporting a fundraising initiative in the form of a Gospel concert with four performing artists.
The concert will take place at the Conville Civic Centre on Sunday 4 December. Tickets are available at R100 for adults and R30 for children.
