Future remains uncertain for team Abantu

NATIONAL NEWS - Professional cycling outfit, Team Abantu, remains stranded in a financial crisis and could be disbanded at the end of the season.

This was confirmed by team management on Monday, after squad member Nolan Hoffman earned his fourth win in five years at the Amashova Durban Classic at the weekend.

Spearheaded by Hoffman, the coastal outfit has also bagged the last two men’s titles at the prestigious Cape Town Cycle Tour.

“Unfortunately we have to live with the reality next year Team Abantu may not exist,” said Hoffman, a former world championships silver medallist on the track.
