The Spur Mountain Bike (MTB) Schools League's Southern Cape races kicked off in Knysna on 3 August at Oakhill School, before making its way to Greenwood Bay School in Plettenberg Bay on 17 August, and then to Outeniqua School in George for the penultimate race of the 2019 season on 24 August.
It would be three weeks before the Southern Cape's best upcoming cyclists would take to the track again, with the final of the 2019 Spur MTB Schools League to be held at Knysna Montessori on Saturday, 14 September.
Local mountain biker Julian Bunge would win the Youth Men’s (15-16 years) race in only his fourth race back from a double-knee injury that saw him sidelined for four months. After Julian conquered the track, Hoërskool Outeniqua rider Tristan Nortjé won the Junior Men’s (17-19 years) race, capping off a season where he dominated from the start of the first race to the end of the last.
