The 2010 series honoured Ernie “The Big Easy” Els and some of South Africa’s top business men and celebrities, including Schalk Burger, Ard Matthews, Bryan Habana, Vanessa Haywood, Liezel van der Westhuizen, Corne Krige and Breyton Paulse contributed to the success of the tournament and the Birdies for Kiddies campaign.
Birdies for Kiddies, a charity initiative launched by the Vodacom Foundation in 2009, raised a phenomenal R3 000 000 this year which will aid organisations such as the Ndlovu Nutritional Unit, the ACFS Feeding Scheme, New Beginningz and Women and Men Against Child Abuse (WMACA). For every birdie made by a player during the tournament, the Vodacom Foundation donated R500 to the cause.
Justin Harding claimed a maiden victory in his rookie season on the Sunshine Tour with a one-stroke triumph in the Vodacom Business Origins Goes Easy Final. Since 2004, amateur golfers have been exclusively invited to play with a group of professional golfers in the series, signifying the ultimate golf experience and networking opportunity with the best in the business.
