KNYSNA FOOTBALL NEWS – The KLFA Domestic and Super League action continued across the Knysna municipal area this past weekend, with Voota going top in the Super League and Young Stars top in the Domestic League.
A total of 28 games were played on Saturday and Sunday, 22 and 23 May, with matches split between the two leagues - Domestic League (16 matches) and Super League (12 matches).
The fixtures were split between three venues namely Sedgefield (nine), Rheenendal (10), and Hornlee (nine). The soccer action brought the fields to life as the clubs battled it out for bragging rights, points, and superior log positions.
In the Super League, action kicked off at 10:00 in Rheenendal on two fronts, with FC United's second team vs Young Strikers and Mthatha City vs Voota on Saturday.
The former was a tense affair as Young Strikers managed to edge FC United 3-2, and Mthatha City and Voota battled it out to a 0-0 draw. The biggest win of the weekend would be in the game that followed between JR Stars and Crossroads, as the latter dismissed their opponents 6-1.

The remainder of the fixtures on Saturday saw no more draws as the games were packed with action and the desire to come out on top. Two more Super League games were played on Sunday with Young Brothers beating JR Stars 3-0 as well as Sinako 2-1. Voota is now top of the table on 10 points followed by Young Brothers (second) and Richmond City (third), both on nine points.
The Domestic League kicked off in Sedgefield on Saturday with a clash between Pine Stars and Young Chiefs that played to a 0-0 draw. Home side Two For Joy faced African Eagles next and managed to dismiss the visitors 6-2, the highest-scoring match of the day.
A thrilling 3-3 draw between United Brothers and Hot Stars followed before Young Boys beat Pine Stars 2-0 and African Eagles beat Hot Stars 2-1.

In the first of the Domestic League games played in Hornlee on Sunday, Flamingo beat Two For Joy 2-1. Slow Town beat United Brothers 6-2 in the biggest win of the day while the day's action was wrapped up with a thrilling draw between FC Rebels and Young Stars. It was the highest-scoring game of the weekend, finishing 5-5.
Domestic League rookies Young Stars continue to impress at the top of the table on 13 points, ahead of Smuts United in second (also on 13 points). Ocean Eleven, Red Eagles and Flamingo are all on 12 points, separated only by goal difference and/or goals scored.
