The team, who are putting in their final preparation for their seven-match, One-Day International series against Bangladesh from 5 July in Durban and Pietermaritzburg, were delighted to have an opportunity to train with players whom they have grown up looking up to.
Kabelo Sekhukhune was excited to meet and speak to Amla. “It was such a privilege to meet this guy that I have looked up to all my life,” he said. “To have him just there and available to talk to me was an awesome experience. It’s also great to know that guys at that level were once in our shoes and went on to become these legendary players. Having a practice with Ryan (McLaren) and (Hashim) Amla and having the opportunity to bowl to them showed us where we’re at as players and just how much further we need to go. It was an inspirational practice.”
Dean Foxcroft could not allow an opportunity to get advice from Amla about how best to bat against the spin bowlers of Bangladesh go by.
