KNYSNA | PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Pirates United, Kranshoek Dolphins and Knysna Cavaliers have all remained at the top of their respective leagues in last weekend's club cricket action with Plett Pioneers keeping their Premier League playoff hopes alive with a win against Cavaliers.
It was in particular a good weekend for Pirates United, whose first team trumped Riversdale in the SWD Promotion League A while the second team beat Plettenberg Bay Pioneers' third team.
Kranshoek Dolphins' emphatic win over Kwanonqaba ensured they stay stop of their Promotion League B pool. Meanwhile, Cavaliers' second team returned to the top of their Reserve League pool with a triumph over their third team.
- Kranshoek Dolphins vs Kwanonqaba
The home team won the toss in Kranshoek and chose to bat first. Wayne Oraai was Dolphins' top scorer with 81 runs, as his side was bowled out for 281. Anesipho Mqwaba was Kwanonqaba's most prolific bowler with four wickets for 93 runs in 9,5 overs.
Cashwell London top-scored for Kwanonqaba with nine runs as they were dismissed for 34. Wayne Oraai was Dolphins' bowler of the day with seven wickets for 25 runs in 7,5 overs.
The win keeps Dolphins top of Pool B in Promotion League B.
- Pirates United A vs
Riversdale A
Pirates hosted their visitors at Loerie Park, and batted first.
Curnol Thorne top-scored for Pirates with 49 as they scored 190-7 in 50 overs. Five bowlers from Riversdale claimed a wicket each, with Aiden Koeries the most economical, conceding two runs in one over.
Marchello Wessels scored the most runs for Riversdale with 18 before they were all out for 91. Theodore Oelf was Pirates United's best bowler, claiming four wickets for 11 runs in 10 overs. Pirates' win ensures they are still top of Pool A in Promotion League A.
- Pioneers A vs Cavaliers A
Pioneers hosted their Knysna counterparts at Ashford Cricket Oval, and the visitors chose to bat first. Todd Walker shone for Cavaliers, scoring 143 as his side
reached 276-9 in 50 overs. Three Pioneers bowlers took two wickets, but Keith Oraai was most economical, conceding 35 runs in eight overs.
A phenomenal 179 not out for Mark Vermeulen steered a tense Pioneers run chase as they reached the target with only eight balls to spare to secure a four-wicket win. Pioneers' win moves them into the third place and the playoff spots while Cavaliers remain top of the table, one point ahead of George.

- Pirates B vs Pioneers C
With the game played in Hornlee, the home team won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Gwyn Lewis top-scored for Pioneers with 45 runs before they were bowled out for 148.
Edwin Lukas was Pirates' best bowler, taking three wickets for 34 runs in 10 overs.
James Goliath anchored his side's run chase with an unbeaten 61 as they reached the target to secure a seven-wicket victory.

Duane Olivier was Pioneers' best bowler with two wickets for 29 runs in seven overs.
Pirates' win keeps them third in Pool A in the Reserve League.
- Cavaliers C vs Cavaliers B
The intra-club game was played at Loerie Park, with Cavaliers C winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Rahat Aksax top-scored with 13 runs before they were bowled out for 53.
Werner Mels was Cavaliers B's best bowler with three wickets for 17 runs in four overs.
Dean Dollie top-scored for Cavaliers B with 20 runs not out to help get his side to the target for a six-wicket win. Two bowlers claimed two wickets apiece for Cavaliers C, but Marcoe van Eyssen was most economical, conceding eight runs in three overs. Cavaliers B's win takes them back to the top of Pool A, overtaking Pioneers B on net run rate.
