KNYSNA NEWS - Two young Knysna athletes, Miguel September and Jade Gallant, have been awarded Stellenbosch Hoërskool ACE Trust bursaries for 2027, opening the door to new educational and sporting opportunities.

Miguel's journey

Miguel's athletics journey began during his early school years at Sunridge Primary School, where he became involved in the Knysna Sport Academy's after-school sports programme, run in partnership with the Knysna Initiative for Learning and Teaching (Kilt).

When he moved to Fraaisig Primary School in Grade Six, he continued with the programme, allowing him to remain active and develop his skills, confidence and passion for athletics. His selection for the ACE bursary is the culmination of several years of participation and development through the programme.

In 2027, Miguel will attend Hoërskool Stellenbosch, where he will continue his education while pursuing his athletics ambitions in a new and more competitive environment.

Jade's opportunity

Jade, a learner at Knysna Primary School, has developed her athletics through the coaching and support she received at the school.

In 2025, she was assisted by the Knysna Sport Academy, in partnership with Kilt, to attend athletics trials.

She impressed the selectors and was subsequently approached through her parents regarding the opportunity.

Jade was successful and has now been awarded an ACE Bursary to attend Stellenbosch Hoërskool in 2027.

For both athletes, these bursa-ries represent not only financial assistance, but also provide access to an environment where their academic and sporting development can continue alongside each other.
