PLETTENBERG BAY POLITICAL NEWS - Voters will be spoilt for choice in the upcoming local government elections on 27 October, as a new party, the Citizens Rights Protection Unity (CRPU), is in the process of registering to contest the elections in Plettenberg Bay.
According to CRPU secretary Lwandle Kuwane the party wishes to achieve economic and political freedom for all citizens.
"It is formed based on the challenges of poor service delivery and it is a product of comprehensive citizens consultation process," he said.
Their slogan is "Uniting Citizens for Best Change and Developed Tomorrow, One Citizen One Unity One Community One Nation".
The CRPU's mission is to strive and achieve political aspiration of Bitou citizens across the spectrum, building on the foundation of principles and ideas of the local Constitution.
"We wish to unite all Plettenberg Bay citizens from all communities irrespective of culture, beliefs, traditions, religion, lifestyles and ideologies for change and development; to build a progressive service delivering government which will address the needs of all the Bitou citizens who live in this town.
"We will address poverty and imbalances in our society; eliminate corruption and uphold servanthood leadership character and accountability, and promote good governance and public participation at all levels of our structures," said Kuwange.
Their vision is to strive for economic empowerment at all levels of the community.
"We aim to be a beacon of hope that will unite and develop Bitou into a peaceful, ethically governed and economically viable municipality that upholds the values entrenched in the constitution," he said.
They will fight corruption, hold leaders accountable and restore the confidence of the people.
"We will promote and accelerate suitable and equitable socio-economic development that benefits our communities through innovation and new version technologies. Build moral regenerated community through Ubuntu and servanthood leadership with moral values. Youth will be prioritised in job opportunities and skills development programmes that will assist them to get employment," added Kuwane.
Putting citizens first is their core value. "Our leaders will be servants of the people and we will promote unity, peace, accountability and development of Bitou," he said.
Anyone wishing to raise an objection against the intended registration must do so by written notice that sets out the grounds for the objection(s) and that must be delivered at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Election House, Riverside Office Park, 1303 Heuwel Avenue, Centurion, Pretoria, no later than fourteen days after this publication of the notice (17 June).
