NATIONAL NEWS - African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee (NEC) member Bheki Cele says the country would have been in a better position had President Jacob Zuma stepped down after the Constitutional Court judgment on Nkandla.
Cele was speaking during an interview on Radio 702 on Tuesday.
The deputy Agriculture Minister has always been a strong supporter of Zuma but says that the Constitutional Court which found that the president failed to uphold his oath of office was a turning point.
“What has changed is a situation that puts us here. The same Cele that would have gone to Polokwane and said he’s correct. ConCourt is one area after Nkandla that said it looks like we’re really on the reverse gear here. So if he had stepped down on that, life would have been better.”
