NATIONAL NEWS - GAC Risk Solutions has warned residents in the Kameeldrift and Hakdoornboom area in the north of Pretoria to be vigilant after two incidents this week.
On 23 January, a number of tourists were held up, beaten up and robbed at a lodge in Buffelsdrift in Kameeldrift by a group of robbers.
“The victims (the Dutch tourists and a tour guide) were busy braaing when they were confronted by the robbers,” GAC Risk Solutions spokesperson Juan du Plessis said.
“The suspects opened fire at the victims as they entered the premises and made their way to the victims. Fortunately, no one was injured during the shooting.”
Du Plessis said the victims were tied with wire to their chairs while the suspects robbed them.
It is unknown how the suspects entered or left the premises.
The case is being investigated by Kameeldrift police.
Last Tuesday, a property in Naguil Street in Hakdoornboom was broken into at 01:00.
“The owner of the property woke up to an unfamiliar noise in the house and alerted her husband,” Du Plessis said.
“After the couple inspected their house they discovered their cellphones, TV and cash had been stolen.
“The victims were fortunately not harmed during the break-in. A loaded 9mm and other weapons were used in the break-in.”
Du Plessis urged the community to be vigilant at all times.
