The body of the 58-year-old washed up on the beach yesterday morning, police said.
He had been missing since Thursday afternoon, after he went for a swim at Ducks Beach near the Cape St Francis Resort.
Since the man’s next of kin were still being tracked down by the German Embassy, police have declined to release his name.
Police spokeswoman Captain Gerda Swart said the man was visiting the resort when he and his 55-year-old girlfriend went for a walk.
“The deceased went for a swim while his companion was taking pictures of him. He disappeared under the water before being swept out to sea,” she said.
A passer-by alerted police to the body yesterday.
