GEORGE NEWS - The annual Hope Church Night Run is returning on Friday 2 February.
This event has become a highlight in George and surrounds with everyone, from runners to those looking for a fun night out with friends and family.
With more than 1 200 runners participating in 2017, it is now the largest night run in the entire Garden Route.
It gives runners three options for participating. The 5 km and 3 km runs are less strenuous trail routes through the lovely Botanical Gardens and along the peaceful roads of George.
These two shorter distance trails make for great fun for all levels of runners and walkers.
For those looking for more of a challenge, the 10 km forest run, which takes you along a trail through George’s luscious, indigenous forests, is the perfect opportunity.
The organisers aim to make the event accessible to all. Even parents with prams will be able to participate.
After enjoying an exhilarating run, there is no need to rush home. Participants can relax, recover and enjoy the delicious food, tea, coffee, and cool drinks which will be for sale afterwards. There will also be jumping castles and fun activities for children.
A beautiful commemorative medal will be awarded to the first 1 500 runners that cross the finish-line. Some medals will hold a hidden lucky-dip prize. The prize-giving will be held at 20:15 where awards will be given for the first, second and third places for each of the three trails.
Everyone is invited to join in one of the races, or simply chill out and cheer others along in the wonderful atmosphere of the Hope Church Night Run.
The Hope Church Night Run is a pre-entry event. However, late entries will be accepted at the Botanical Gardens from 16:30 until 18:00 on the day of the race.
