Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi says the 42-year old detective was arrested after the Hawks uncovered the plot to kill her partner in an investigation that began last year.
Mulaudzi says the plot was uncovered after two would-be assassins, who were promised R5000 each for the job, allegedly spilled the beans to her husband and other family members, who in turn, notified the Hawks.
The detective was arrested at her workplace on Tuesday and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Further investigations revealed that more people were involved in the scheme and Mulaudzi said more arrests were imminent.
